In Australia, over one million women are navigating perimenopause or menopause at any given time, many of them in the prime of their careers. With women aged 45–64 representing one of the fastest-growing segments of the workforce, the business case for support is clear.
According to Metluma’s 2024 Menopause Ecosystem Report, 83% of women say their symptoms negatively impact their work, while 15% have considered quitting, and 13% have already left their jobs due to unmanaged symptoms. The result? An estimated $10 billion annual cost to Australian businesses in lost productivity, absenteeism, and turnover.
Symptoms like brain fog, fatigue, and anxiety are often misunderstood or dismissed, leading to performance concerns and missed opportunities for retention. By embedding menopause-inclusive policies, training managers, and normalising conversations, organisations can foster a culture of care, reduce attrition, and unlock the full potential of experienced talent.
