The Corporate Mental Health Alliance Australia (CMHAA) is pleased to share the findings of our latest Leading Mentally Healthy Workplaces survey. This important initiative was launched in 2022 to help our member organisations better understand the mental health and wellbeing issues affecting their employees in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Three years on, Australians are facing different challenges, including cost-of-living and housing pressures, but we believe the survey is just as important now as it was then.

Our latest survey focused on how workplace factors such as stress, burnout, relationships, and employer support – as well as outside pressure like financial stress – impact employees’ mental health in the workplace. The results will help us continue to focus our research efforts and improve our approach to education, resources, and capabilities. CMHAA is committed to improving workplace mental health and wellbeing. Addressing poor mental health outcomes in the workplace is a preventative measure that can potentially improve the lives of all employees. We know from our work that there is significant growth and activity in the workplace wellbeing sector. Alongside a substantial increase in government funding for mental health programs, many businesses are investing in wellbeing initiatives and strategies out of genuine concern for their employees. However, we are still seeing a rise in stress, burnout, and psychological injury claims, suggesting more needs to be done not just as a reactive response but to tackle root causes.
